What St. Lucian food will we be cooking?
Currently, our cooking class menu includes: Curried Chicken, Green Fig Salad, Macaroni Pie, Green Salad, Fried Plantain, Roasted and/or Fried Bakes and Chocolate Tea & Dumplings (Cocoa Tea). What sort of St. Lucian snacks and drinks can I expect to enjoy during my cooking class?

Drinks include a welcome drink on arrival (“I.P.R” – our special rum punch, which is also available sans alcohol), Piton Beer, Wine (red & white), “Spice” (homemade spiced rum) and local, homemade juice (based on fruit in season).
What’s the max number of guests in each St. Lucian cooking class?

How’s Cook Like A Lucian different from other cooking classes in St. Lucia?
Aside from Cook Like A Lucian, there is currently no culinary studio on island that is dedicated to teaching St. Lucian cooking classes. The only cooking classes that do exist in St. Lucia are either 1) run by, and in, hotels that use Chefs from other countries who never teach or serve the food the way St. Lucian people do, or 2) run primarily as demonstration classes in restaurants (not owned/operated by St. Lucians) that fail to create a truly hands-on, cooking class, experience. At Cook Like A Lucian, we assist guests in making their entire meal from scratch and then sit down to dine with them on their homemade food! We want our guests to get the real St. Lucian experience and that means learning from St. Lucian nationals and eating what St. Lucian people really eat.
Do you offer private one-on-one classes?
Private one-on-one lessons are not a part of our program at this time, however, if you are interested, please contact us directly at (758) 716-5626 or our contact page. We will handle these requests on a case-by-case basis.
What time slots do you offer for your classes?
Do you have a restaurant where I can simply eat the local food instead of cook it?
Our Executive Chef, Antonia Joseph, owns an incredible local restaurant in Vieux Fort (near Hewanorra International Airport) that we highly recommend you try! It’s called Antonia’s Restaurant and it’s located on New Dock Road (behind the tire shop). Ask your taxi driver on the way to the airport to take you by for a delicious lunch – most of them know it!
What is the atmosphere like during the class?
At Cook Like A Lucian, it’s a party! We’re all about fun! We love to joke around, play local music (Soca, Reggae, Calypso, Zouk etc.), indulge in authentic local snacks & drinks and laugh. We promise it will not be a dull experience!
Why do you need to be age 16+ to attend the cooking class?
The minimum age requirement is not only a safety protocol – since we often use knives, stoves and other potentially dangerous tools – but it’s also a courtesy to our other guests. Many people travel to St. Lucia to take some time away from their responsibilities – such as children – and thus we felt it was necessary to keep our studio free from wildly adventurous tots!

Is transportation included in the cooking class fee?
At this time transportation is included in the cooking class price for anyone who requires pick-up North of, or at, Sandals La Toc. Anyone located South of Sandals La Toc will be charged an additional fee depending upon where exactly they need to be picked up/dropped off. Fee’s start at an additional US$20 and increase the further South you are.
I have allergies and/or dietary restrictions, can I still participate?
You certainly can! Each guest that signs up for our St. Lucian cooking class is asked if they have any dietary restrictions or allergies we should know about. With this information, we will customize our class to ensure our guests are happy. Although we collect this information in advance, we do still recommend you remind the Chef on the day of your class just to be sure our information has be conveyed properly.
Do you offer catering services for locals?
We get asked this question a lot! While catering is not our primary focus, we will accept the odd requests for catering provided that it does not conflict with any other classes/events. Please contact us at (758) 716-5626 or our contact page for catering requests and we will quote you accordingly.
What is in your I.P.R welcome drink? It tastes amazing and is so different from other rum punches I’ve tried.
We know it’s a cliché, but it’s a secret! 😉
